Department of Field Interaction and Action Research
Roles and Responsibilities
The major purpose of this department is to identify the problems for research in the districts, conduct action research supervision, and provide inputs into TPD, PSTE, etc. To achieve its objectives, it should undertake the following activities:
- Formulate the District Research Committee (DRC) at the district level consisting of the Principal as the head, Vice Principal, two experts from colleges of Education/department of universities, and the research coordinator as members. The committee shall evaluate and approve research proposals for action research and district-specific research projects.
- Frame the yearly timetable for research activities at the beginning of each academic year and provide detailed guidelines and procedures to implement research programmes.
- Identify areas/problems for action research and surveys, carry out relevant research studies, and disseminate the findings through workshops and publications.
- Feed the findings of the action research into other departments like TPD and PSTE.
- Publish consolidated research documents every year.
- Undertake yearly school-based projects to address thrust areas of school education and gain valuable insights to pinpoint and frame training needs.
- Monitor and supervise all programmes implemented by SCERT and gather relevant data to improve in-service programmes.
- Establish feedback mechanisms and analysis systems for evaluating the effectiveness and appropriateness of trainings, based on the performance of students in board examinations (X, XI, XII), NAS, and SEAS.
- Assort data from various stakeholders of school education so that SCERT can design and implement need-based and feasible trainings, workshops, and refresher courses.
- Collect data periodically to evaluate various aspects of Teachers’ Professional Development (TPD) and report findings to the government as policy input.
